How to Make This Delightful & Easy Fun Fold Card

It’s a Triple Z Fun Fold Card

Hello and welcome to my studio! I’m so happy you’re here today! Because I just love what I do and I so enjoy sharing my ideas with you. As a paper crafter, I make a lot of cards here at my little studio and sometimes I like to spice it up a bit by making a fun fold card. Because, well-they’re so much fun to make!

These types of cards are not just fun to make, they are fun to receive! Believe it or not, I made this fun fold card to showcase the absolutely gorgeous designer paper I had purchased. I knew the paper looked like a fun design when I purchased it online. But when I received it and opened the package, I was in awe. REALLY! I just can’t say enough about the “Silly Goose” collection by Carta Bella. Also keep in mind, you do not have to use the same papers I used to make a fun fold card like this. Later in this post, I’ll share my list of supplies followed by all the dimensions you’ll need to make this delightfully easy fun fold card. So, without further ado, let’s get krafty!

Let’s Get Krafty

  • First, choose your papers! The “Silly Goose” Collection by Carta Bella is absolutely lovely. It’s a nice heavy weight paper and it’s textured. I love it. However, you can use any 12 x 12” CS you wish to make a fun fold card like this. There are so many choices when it comes to CS. I love to buy my patterned CS in sets or collections because color coordination is already done for us. Also, Scrapbook.com, Stampin’Up, and Simon Says Stamp are just some of the good places to purchase really beautiful card stock.
  • Next, you’ll make the 3 layers of this triple z fun fold card.

Creating the Layers of Your Fun Fold Card

  • Use your paper trimmer with scoring tool and trim and score as follows:
  • Base Layer: Layer 1: Trim to 6 x 12” and Score @ 4 and 8” ( I used a piece of double sided patterned paper here so that the front and back of the card would be decorative.
  • Layer 2: Trim to 5 x 11.5” and Score @ 4 and 8” ( I used a piece of solid CS here. )
  • Layer 3: Trim to 4 x 10.5” and Score @ 4 and 8” ( I used a piece of patterned CS here. )
  • For the Front Sentiment panel, I used one of the CS cutouts from the “Silly Goose” collection. I simply trimmed it down to fit my card. Easy Peasy!
  • For the Inside Message panel, I trimmed a piece of white CS to 2 x 3”. I used a bit of light tan ink and blending tool to add a bit of color to this rectangle. Then I used a rubber stamp to stamp the message, “Sending gaggles of good wishes”.

Building Your Fun Fold Card

  • Now, you simply use your favorite adhesive to adhere layer 2 to your base layer. Tip: align the right side close to the edge. Place glue on the far right side panel and adhere it to the base. Close your card, and add the glue to the far left side panel.
  • At this point, you’ll align layer 3 to layer 2 in the same manner as above.
  • Now adhere your focal point, card sentiment to the front of your card. I chose the CS cutout from the pack of paper that has the picnic geese and reads, “This is so the happy place”
  • Lastly, adhere your inside message to the right side of your card. And finish this fun fold card by adding any embellishments you like. This paper pack had loads of CS stickers, so I chose one of the strawberries for my message panel. And for the front of the card, I chose to use some little strawberry embellishments I purchased from Stampin’Up!
  • That’s it! You’ve now created your own Delightful and Easy Fun Fold Card.

Keeping it Krafty

Ultimately, this is a showstopper of a card to make. Yet it really is easy. You’ll create 3 stepped down layers by simply trimming and scoring your chosen CS. You’ll attach the smaller two layers to your base layer by adhering just the right side and left side panels. There will be no glue on the middle panels. This creates an amazing Triple Z Fun Fold Card. The finished size of this card-as I made it- is 5.14 x 6” and fits a 6” square envelope.
