Featuring the “Silly Goose” Collection by Carta Bella

It’s a Boxed Set of Themed All Occasion Cards & Envelopes

Hello and welcome to my studio! Let me begin by saying how happy I am that you have stopped by! Because I love what I do and I absolutely adore sharing my ideas with you.

That being said, I have a darling boxed set of cards to share with you today. This boxed set is made in the same way as the one in my last post. If you’d like to check that out, you can visit my blog archives (Link below). Or you can see it HERE. I will, however, be sharing all of the details, dimensions, and supplies I used to make this project in this post.

Interestingly, the key to easily creating your very own boxed set of cards is the paper! For this boxed set of cards I used the absolutely darling “Silly Goose” Collection by Carta Bella. This is a very nice collection full of gorgeous thick, textured papers, card stock ephemera, stickers and all sorts. * I am not affiliated in any way with these companies. I just love to share my favorite finds with you and this collection is amazing! Below, I’ve shared a list of the supplies I used to make this project followed by the details of how to create this 4.5 x 6 x 2” decorative box. And following that, I’ve added a photo slideshow of the “Silly Goose” themed cards that go inside. So, without further ado, let’s get krafty!

Let’s Get Krafty

  • First, choose your papers. If you’re using patterned card stock to decorate your box, match your solid card stock to the colors in the designer paper. My box was made with a light yellow solid CS, then decorated with pieces of the designer paper from the “Silly Goose” collection.
  • Create the Base of the Box. See below.
  • Create the Lid of the Box. See below.
  • Build your box. Simply adhere the lid to the base. See photos below.
  • Create your greeting card-card fronts. See below.
  • Decorate your cards and your box using the many decorative elements in the “Silly Goose “ collection. OR make your own, using stamps, dies etc.
  • Make it your own and have fun!

Create the Base Of the Box

  1. Trim a piece of solid CS to 8.5 x 10”
  2. Score the CS @ { 2” } on ALL SIDES.
  3. Fold and burnish your score lines.
  4. Use scissors to cut the little scored seam line from the bottom right corner of your CS. And turn the CS counterclockwise and repeat. Turn the CS counterclockwise again and repeat. Turn the CS counterclockwise again and repeat. Removing the scored seam line from all four corners of the card stock. This creates the tabs of your box. See photos below.
  5. Now, add a good glue or double-sided tape to the tabs and fold them up creating a 4.5 wide x 6” long by 2” deep Base for your darling box!

Create the Lid of the Box

  1. Trim a piece of solid 12 x 12” card stock to 6 x 12”. Just cut it in half.
  2. Score the long side at { 4.5, 6.5 and 11” }.
  3. Fold and burnish the score lines.
  4. Add adhesive to the 4.5” section that is not next to the 1” section. And adhere this to the bottom of the base of the box.
  5. Add adhesive to the 2” section and adhere this to the back of the base of the box.
  6. See photos below.
  7. That’s it! You’ve now made your very own gift box! Next, you’ll decorate your box! And after that, you’ll create all the greeting cards to go inside. You’re going to have such fun with this!

Decorate Your Completed Box

  1. Choose which pieces you want to use, of the designer paper, to decorate your box. There are many great choices in this “Silly Goose” paper pack.
  2. Trim 1 piece to 4.25 x 5.75”.
  3. Trim 2 pieces to 1.75 x 5.75”.
  4. Trim 2 pieces to 1.75 x 4.25”.
  5. And trim 1 piece to .75 x 5.75”
  6. Use glue to adhere all of your trimmed designer paper pieces to your box.
  7. That’s it! You have now made a designer box for your boxed set of cards!

Create Your Greeting Cards

  1. Choose which papers out of the pack you’d like to use. These papers are 12×12” so you can actually get 6 card fronts from just 1 sheet! But you really don’t want all of your cards to be from the exact same piece of paper. So, mix them up.
  2. Trim each of your chosen pieces to about 4 x 5.25”
  3. Important: remember to notice the direction of the images on the paper and trim accordingly. You wouldn’t want your flowers or geese to be sideways on your card front.
  4. Decorate-Decorate-Decorate your heart out! Choose any of the stickers, card cut outs, ephemera etc from the collection to decorate your cards.
  5. Or, use stamps and dies from the collection and even what you may have in your craft room to decorate your greeting cards. This is the really fun part! So remember to have fun with it!
  6. Add whatever sentiments you’d like to the front of your cards ie. “Thank You”, “Happy Birthday”.
  7. The pack of paper I used from the “Silly Goose” collection has a lot of rectangular card front pieces. I used several of these. I had to trim them down to 4 x 5.25”. Then I added any embellishments, images and sentiments I wanted.

Keeping It Krafty

In closing, I’d like to thank you again for joining me here today. This darling boxed set of cards has been so much fun to create. It makes a perfect gift for just about anyone. In fact, I made this one for my mom for Mother’s Day. And I made a different one for my aunt. I’ve decided to make a boxed set of cards for myself! I sometimes need a card, pronto. This set is perfect, and let’s face it, it’s just so sweet- I want one on my desk!

Also, keep in mind that you can use any decorative paper packs or collections to make a boxed set of cards. The paper is what actually ties it all together. And the box we have made for this project is a great size to be used for any kind of gift. As a matter of fact, I’m making one of these boxes to hold a garden flag I’m gifting someone. So no matter what it is that you decide to make just make it your own. And always remember to keep it krafty!

Until next time ,
