HOW TO MAKE THESE 5 FABULOUS GIFT TAGS FOR CHRISTMAS

Step Up Your Gift Wrapping with these Fabulous Tags!

Hello and welcome to my studio! I am so happy to have you here today. Because I’d like to share with you these cute, hand crafted Christmas tag ideas! These gift tags will adorn your gifts with a bit of whimsy and a lot of fun. And they’re all made from just one pack of paper!

I love designer paper and when I ran across this paper I knew I HAD to have it. I purchased it from an online craft store called Scrapbook.com. The paper is from Stamperia and it’s part of their “Candy Christmas “ Collection. I love the name of this collection almost as much as I love all of the elements.

While there are many different elements of the collection, these tags use only the 8 x 8” paper pad and some of their rub-on transfers. You should check them out to see what all they have to offer. Funny enough, I just realized the embossing folder I used for the tags is from Spellbinder’s “Candy Christmas” collection! What? I was really attracted to all the beautiful pastel designs and candy themes this year.

Let’s Get Krafty- Shaker Tag #1

The paper pad comes with full gorgeous 8 x 8 double sided papers as well as tag cut outs, ready made card fronts, card stock ephemera… so choose one for your tag.

step by step

  1. Decide what size you want your shaker tag to be. The 2 shaker tags I made are pretty large: about 3 x 4”.
  2. Choose a set of nested shape dies. I used the stitched, scalloped rectangles- the largest die in the set, let’s call it size 1. Then skip size 2 and use size 3 to create the “frame”. Make 3 frames. Hint: use mint tape or washi tape to hold the 2 rectangles together to cut each of your frames so that they are all the same width.
  3. Use size 1 of the rectangles to die cut a piece of brown card stock for the base of the tag.
  4. Take size 2 of the rectangles to die cut a piece of acetate to be the window of your frame.
  5. Now, emboss the piece of brown card stock with the waffle cone embossing folder.
  6. Next, adhere the acetate sheet to the back side of one of the frames. Then adhere the other frame to the back of that. Sandwich the acetate sheet between the 2 frames.
  7. Adhere your chosen element ie. the nutcracker, to the embossed base of the tag.
  8. Sprinkle on some shiny, pastel colored sequins or some white or colored glitter onto the center of the image.
  9. Carefully adhere the frames onto the base of your tag being certain to align them and secure the edges so the sequins or glitter doesn’t fall out.
  10. Decorate your frame with some sequins, colorful gems… I added one of the rub-on transfers from the “Candy Christmas” collection: the blue tree at the bottom.
  11. Use a hole punch to punch a hole at the top of your tag for ribbon or twine to be added.
  12. Attach this sweet Candy Christmas Shaker Tag to your gift!

Shaker Tag #2

step by step

  1. Follow the same steps as the for the Nutcracker Shaker Tag.
  2. Adhere the piece of acetate onto the backside of the top frame.
  3. Now, add 1/4” Foam Tape to the backside of the frames. This will create a 3D tag and give more space for the shaker elements to shake around.
  4. Place your sequins or glitter onto the center of the image and carefully adhere the frames on top.
  5. Make sure there’s a good seal all around.
  6. Decorate the outside of the frame however you like.
  7. Punch a hole in the center of the top and add ribbon or twine.
  8. Lastly, attach your beautiful 3D Shaker Tag to your gift!

Gift Tag # 3

This is the quickest and easiest tag!

step by step

  1. Make a frame the same way as with the first two tags.
  2. Choose one of the smaller scene cards from the “Candy Christmas” paper pad and cut it out.
  3. Use the larger die- #1 to die cut a rectangle for the base. For this tag, I used a light blue card stock but you could use white, pink or brown also.
  4. Use glue to adhere the rectangle scene you’ve chosen to the base.
  5. Adhere the frame on top of the scene.
  6. Embellish the frame any way you like
  7. Punch a hole for your ribbon
  8. Attach your adorable scenic tag to your gift!

Candy Christmas Pocket Tag: # 4

This tag is quite unique and it’s really easy to make!

step by step

  1. Choose one of the Pre-Designed Elements from the paper pad. There’s lots to choose from.
  2. Use a rectangle die: I used the same scalloped rectangle size #2 here. Die cut 2 rectangles from whatever paper design you like.
  3. Take one of the rectangles and trim about half an inch off of the side.
  4. [optional] Use a small 3/4” Circle Punch to create a notch on the side of the smaller rectangle.
  5. Now adhere the smaller rectangle to the larger one by placing a bit of glue on 3 sides leaving the notched side open.
  6. In the paper pack, there are several ready made small gift tags. Choose one of those and punch a hole in the top, add some ribbon and tuck it into the side pocket.
  7. Punch a hole in the center of the top of the tag and add ribbon.
  8. Attach this uniquely designed tag to your gift!

Booklet Style Tag #5

step by step

  1. This one is a bit different. I designed this tag to be about 2” wide and 3.25” tall. So take a piece of brown CS and trim it to 3.25 x 4”. And Score the 4” side @ 2”. Fold and burnish.
  2. On the score line, use scissors to cut a slit from the top down approximately .5” and remove the rectangle piece from the top of the left side.
  3. On the top of the taller bit- the right side of your tag, use scissors or a paper trimmer to trim off the corners to create the tag shape.
  4. Choose how you’d like to decorate the tag inside and out. ALSO you could stamp or write a message for the inside of this sweet little booklet tag. So it would act as a tag and a little greeting card. Hey! That’s a great idea! I’ll do that next. LOL.
The papers in this paper pad are bright and colorful and full of sweet designs! I Love it!
This is an example of some of the treasures inside. There’s so much we can do with this one paper pad.
