Featuring Mediterranean Blooms DSP*
Hello and welcome to my studio. I am so happy you have joined me today! I’m going to share this lovely large gift box with you. The finished measurements of this box is a generous 3” tall x 6” long x 2.5” wide. You can use one sheet of 12×12” decorative paper or use plain card stock and decorate it with designer paper as I have done here. You could also just leave it with a solid color. The best thing is that you can make a large box with just one piece of 12×12” card stock! I’ll show you how it’s done.
If you have been following my blog, you’ll know I love making my own gift boxes. A few years ago, I was thrilled to learn we can make our own boxes at home with just some card stock. It actually gave me a fluttery feeling in my tummy. (Don’t judge…I am a crafter you know!)

I would have made this box with 1 sheet of the Mediterranean Blooms DSP. However; I didn’t because these pieces of DSP on the box in the featured photo was the last of my stash. I was sad about this until I just realized they still have the paper available for purchase. I’ll be getting more. Keep in mind you don’t have to use that paper. You can use any paper you wish to make this large gift box. Keep reading below and I’ll share my list of supplies along with some helpful links. I’ll also share how to make this easy and beautifully big gift box!
Supplies List
- 65 lb. CARD STOCK: solid color OR a good quality designed paper

- Scissors and glue like Tombow glue or double sided tape like tear and tape https://www.stampinup.com/products/tear-tape-adhesive

Let’s Get Krafty!
Take your sheet of 12 x 12” card stock and SCORE at: 3” and 9”
Rotate the paper 90 degrees and SCORE at: 1”, 3.5”, 6.5” and 9”
Let’s Build This Box
Use scissors to cut along the vertical score lines to the middle horizontal score lines. Remove the pieces indicated in the diagram above to create the lid. Round the corners of the lid if you wish.
Fold in the sides and use a good glue or a really good double sided tape to adhere the flaps and tabs to create your box.
If you are decorating the box with pieces of designed paper, you’ll need 4 pieces. Trim as follows:
- 1 piece @ 2 x 5.75” for the bottom front
- 1 piece @ 2.75 x 5.75” for the back
- 1 piece @ 2.25 x 5.75” for the top of the lid
- 1 piece @ .75 x 5.75” for the lid flap
Adhere your designed paper to your box and embellish as you wish.
