Now, keep in mind that this post is about the gift box itself and how to make it. You are not limited to using the same colors or patterned paper as I did. And if you have never made your own gift boxes, don’t worry. This is a nice, easy and straightforward box to make and the finished size if ever-so-useful! Let’s Get Krafty

MAKE THE BASE OF THE GIFT BOX

  • Trim your card stock to 8 x 10 inches.
  • Score the long (10”) side @ 2 and 8”.
  • Score the short (8”) side @ 2 and 6”.
  • Fold and burnish your score lines.
  • Use scissors to cut the score lines as in the diagram below.
  • Fold in your flaps and add glue to form your rectangular box. It should measure 4 x 6” with a depth of 2”.

MAKE THE LID OF THE GIFT BOX

  • Trim your card stock to 8 x 10”.
  • Score the long side @ 7/8” and 9”.
  • Score the short side @ 7/8” and 7”.
  • Fold and burnish your score lines.
  • Fold in your flaps and add glue to form your rectangular lid. It should measure 4 x 6” with a depth of 1 inch.
  • Use the same process as the diagram above.
  • You can either use solid card stock for the lid or patterned paper.
  • If you use solid card stock and wish to adorn your box with patterned paper, then trim the paper to about 3.75 x 5.75 inches and adhere to the lid of your box.

KEEPING IT KRAFTY

In closing, I’d just like to say how happy I am to have you here today. I absolutely love what I do and I love sharing my ideas with you! If you’ve never made your own gift boxes before, then go ahead and give this one a go. Because this is a simple design that is quick and easy to make. And it’s a very nice size for a gift box. I used the box you see in the feature photo to hold 16 (1.5”) wax melts.
